Before joining Warburg Pincus and returning to Quarles & Brady, Layden was president of the International Group and senior executive vice president of corporate development, general counsel, and secretary of Metavante Technologies, Inc. Layden joined Metavante in 2004 after the company's acquisition of NuEdge Systems, where he was president.

Previously, he held senior management positions with Fiserv, Marshall & Ilsley Corporation, and Trust and Investment Management Group. Layden began his career practicing law as a partner in the Quarles & Brady LLP law firm, where he concentrated his practice in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions.

Layden serves on the board of Firstsource Solutions, Ltd., a public company headquartered in Mumbai, India, traded on the National Stock Exchange of India (FSL). Layden also serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations including the Consuelo Foundation, the United Way of Milwaukee, and Alverno College.
